Below is Reggie Kelly’s insightful exposition of Zechariah 13:8-9 concerning the displacement of the population of Israel during the extremity of “the time of Jacob’s trouble.” Reggie rightly points out that these prophetic texts present us with a weighty pastoral burden that the Church must honestly and prayerfully consider. An excerpt from Chapter 4 of “The Controversy of Zion and the Time of Jacob’s Trouble“:
Arrogance, ignorance, and deception concerning Israel’s role in God’s end-time purposes will have disastrous consequences in the generation of the Lord’s return. A great volume of prophetic scripture describing the conditions of the earth leading up to the eschatological “Day of the Lord” shows clearly that this present Age will not end before all nations are raging in great agitation over the question of the Land of Israel and the city of Jerusalem. Many professing Christians will side with the agitated masses in that day and will ultimately suffer for it. Like the mass apostasy that prevailed in the German church when Adolph Hitler emerged, the future “time of Jacob’s trouble” will catalyze and galvanize a radical reconfiguration of the face of the Church worldwide as the extremity of the hour polarizes the masses.

They expect that every believer will be caught up in a secret rapture to witness Israel’s age-ending affliction from the balcony of heaven. [Read more...]

The aim of this book is to encourage Bible saturated thinking, biblically inspired feeling, and biblically responsive living at the end of the Age in relationship to this issue of Israel.
