On this blog you’ll find many posts addressing the assertion that Israel is an “Apartheid State.” I have a lot of energy about this issue; particularly because of how completely absurd it is and yet how common it is to hear it spoken as axiomatic truth.
One of the reasons the “apartheid” analogy breaks down (and makes you sound like an unintelligent tabloid subscriber when you cite it) is because of the reality of violence against Israel. Some commentators call it “a threat.” But when pizza parlors are being bombed by suicidal jihadists, families are being knifed to death in their own homes, and over 7,000 rockets have been fired upon Israel since 2005, I don’t think the phrase “threat of violence” is suitable. It is a reality.
